The Uganda Revenue Authority is the government revenue collection agency established by the parliament of Uganda. URA operates under the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development and responsible for enforcing, assessing, collecting, and accounting for the various taxes imposed in Uganda
Key Challenge
A large proportion of URA staff perform their work in the field, and this has increased as URA takes services to the informal sector. User cases for laptops range from presentation, office automation chores and browser-based applications to very sophisticated statistical simulations and application programming scenarios which may involve collaboration in regional technical engagements as seen with the single customs territory and other emerging functions.
Solution Requirement and Implementation
URA required a range of Laptops that would satisfy the above use case scenarios. They would be light, spill resistant, secure, and rugged and strong enough to with stand strain mobile staff may subject them to such as dropping them down, spillage of liquids and operation in dusty environments. Three categories and configurations were been identified with different capabilities as described in the table that follows below:
- Standard Laptops
- Utility Laptops
- Performance Laptops
The Standard and Utility Laptops would essentially be the same Laptop except for Processor and Memory and Screen size. SBS Offered the Lenovo Thinkpad T14s the ultimate Productivity notebook engineered to have unapparelled multitasking capabilities with AI enhanced processing power capable of handling graphic intense applications or even cloud-based databases. Its light weight and long-lasting battery, this design marvel was the perfect fit for URAs hybrid workforce.
For the Performance Laptops, SBS Proposed and Supplied the award-winning Lenovo P61 Series, an Ultraportable workstation, thin and light yet packed with Professional graphics, AI based processing and storage technologies designed to handle heavy data complex datasheets and statistical analytical software applications typical of URAs working environment for now and in future.
After sales Support and Preventive Maintenance Program
To ease contract management, warranty, part, and repair logistics for all laptops that arise SBS undertook to provide a detailed after sales service keeping common spare parts in stock so as to minimize long response times as well as a quarterly Preventive maintenance delivered by a highly Lenovo certified and trained staff.
